How to remove malware manually

Malware covers all forms of malicious software including viruses, adware and spyware, all of which have a common aim of getting onto your computer and making the removal procedure as difficult as possible for the victim.

Many instances of adware and spyware can be simply resolved by running one or more of the well established anti spyware/adware packages on your computer – these automate the detection and removal of all common forms of malware.

However, some of the newer and less well known adware or spyware infections can slip through this security system, leaving the computer user with the daunting task of removing the malware manually.

How to remove malware manually varies dramatically depending upon what malware your computer has become infected by. However, you can usually rest assured that you are not the first person to have this problem, and it is common for others to have already solved the problem and posted the solution on the internet.

All that is left for you to find this solution is to identify the type of malware you have, and search on the internet for it in the hope of coming across the solution.

There are many methods for identifying the spyware or adware you have on your computer. If your computer displays any error messages or error numbers on the screen, this is a good place to start your search. If nothing is displayed, you may find the Event Viewer is logging such information for you, so a look through there is recommended. Other than that, identifying any changes in behaviour (change of homepage etc) and searching for those can be a great help. Finally, looking for any unusual or suspicious tasks that are running can aid the identification process.
