Install Office XP
The installation of Office XP is a simple operation, especially when there is no previous version of Office already installed on the computer. This ensures that it is a fresh install, and prevents any potential problems occurring due to the tricky upgrade procedure which the installer will have to undertake on your behalf. Installation is simply a case of inserting the installation cd and following the on screen instructions.
The only time that it is disadvantageous to install office xp without older versions already installed is when you are installing an upgrade version of the product. In that case, the install of office xp will prompt you to insert the installation media of a product which qualifies you for the upgrade version, and once it has seen it it will continue to install as expected.
If you do not have any products which qualify you for the upgrade version, you have purchased the wrong version of office xp. You should contact the shop that sold you the product and ask if you can change it for the full version of office xp alongside paying the premium for the full product.
Office XP was released in 2002, and has since been superseded by both Office 2003 and Office 2007. If you are looking into installing Microsoft Office on your computer, it is recommended you install the latest version.
