Malware Removers

Malware is the name given to any malicious software, and includes all types of computer viruses alongside adware and spyware.

All malware uses unscrupulous methods to get a foothold on your computer, so it is very rare for the authors to volunteer a simple removal procedure. Due to this, you are often on your own when it comes to cleaning up your computer from these unwanted programs.

For adware and spyware, many of the off the shelf anti adware and anti spyware packages are capable of automating the removal process of these applications.

However, sometimes you may find your computer hijacked by some nuisance application, and none of the usual malware removers can find a trace of the cause of your problems. In these cases, some detective work is required to firstly find out what has taken over your computer, and then to find out how to go about removing it.

Even if you are unlucky enough to get caught out by some malware which is not recognised by any of the automated malware removers, it is highly likely that many others have also been caught out in a similar way, and some are likely to have resolved the issue and posted their solution to the internet.

One of the first places to start is to identify any error messages and/or numbers your computer is displaying. If nothing is displayed, the event viewer might be logging such details for you, so browse through that for further clues. Failing that, any other indications of what it is can be made by identifying the noticeable changes made to your computer and searching on the internet for those. Yet another route available for identification is looking at what processes are running on your computer, and again searching on the web for further details of anything that looks suspicious.
